Your hair should be completely dry and detangled before using Smooth-It. Plug tool into an electrical outlet. Temperature dial will display OFF (the tool has not yet started heating). Press the power icon button for 3-5 seconds so the tool starts heating up. Display will change from OFF to the default temperature of 370°F. Once the tool begins to heat up, lock will engage in 3-5 seconds (as shown by a lock icon on display and “LOC” when you move the dial in its locked state). The display will climb in 5° increments until it reaches set temperature. To select a different temperature, rotate the dial left THEN IMMEDIATELY right, or vice versa, to disengage the temperature lock. Then choose your heat setting by turning the dial clockwise to increase temperature or counterclockwise to decrease. Apply your L’ange heat protectant of choice. Select a manageable section of hair, 1"-1.5" in width. Using the comb on the underside of the section, begin near the root and glide at a slow pace down, pulling your hair as close to the base as possible to create tension. Depending on the thickness and texture of your hair, an additional pass may be desired. Once you’re finished styling, press and hold the power icon button for 3-5 seconds to turn the tool OFF. Unplug Smooth-It and wait until completely cooled before storing away.
